Forget Bush and the Tea Party, now it's S&P's fault

In what has become "par for the course" (pun intended) for the Obama administration Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner said Sunday, that The credit rating agency Standard & Poor's showed "terrible judgment" in lowering the U.S. government's credit rating.
"They've handled themselves very poorly. And they've shown a stunning lack of knowledge about the basic U.S. fiscal budget math," Geithner said in his first public comments about the credit rating decision.
Wait a minute, who has handled themselves poorly ? It doesn't take a downgrade from S&P for most Americans to realize that this economy and country is being badly mismanaged.

Then Geithner played the partisan politics game, only days after his boss gave an eloquent speech talking about all parties "working together" for the good of the country.

Geithner said Congress owns the credit rating because the Constitution gives Congress the power to tax and spend.
The democrats control over two thirds of the government, they have refused to address the budget for over 800 days, other than Obama's pitiful attempt that was voted down 97-0 by a Democratic Senate. Obama danced around negotiations with congress, running from his bully pulpit with the media to spamming Twitter and conducting phony Town Hall meetings trying to circumvent the process by forcing his will of no immediate cuts, and higher taxes

Now Geithner is calling S&P irresponsible, first it's Bush, then the Tea Party, now S&P's fault. If the situation wasn't so critical and ominous it would be funny, but it's not.

This is a unprecedented display of denial, and arrogance even for this administration. Geithner should be forced to resign immediately he has failed miserably.

Suddenly Obama wants to save jobs - His own

When you are entering a campaign season with the dismal job performance that Obama has what do you do ? The same thing you've always done, Point fingers blame someone else, and unleash a wall of ad hominem attacks against your opponents, but whatever you do, DO NOT talk about your specific policy failures, unemployment statistics, and the fact that you are dropping like a rock in the polls.

For 2 1/2 years we have been told how the economy and the wars were George Bush's fault. Obama ramped up the wars, started another illegal war of his own, and has driven the economy almost into contraction, it's barely surviving, and on life support. Job losses have increased, confidence is at all time low, and just when Obama was running out of ammunition for the shame and blame game he plays so effortlessly, along comes the debt ceiling crisis. Obama must of thought to himself Yes, Virginia there is a God, Allah, or Pink Unicorns, or whatever he believes in ?

Well okay it wasn't a crisis. We all knew weeks ahead of time what would happen. The politicians would fuss, sputter and spit for the cameras for a few weeks and then put together a useless deal and sign it at the last minute. But never let a god crisis go to waste, and if you don't have a crisis, create one. The democrats and MSM are all over this media manufactured crisis, and now they are spinning it into the new straw-man for Obama's failures, or at least trying.

I am not sure anyone other than the hard core Obama groupies are buying this load of crap, but that's not stopping the MSM from dishing it out.

At a Cabinet meeting, Obama told reporters the debt crisis - for which he blames House Republicans - created “an unnecessary negative impact on the economy.” He also criticized lawmakers for failing to reauthorize the Federal Aviation Administration and putting thousands out of work, calling it “a good example of how undone work here in Washington can have an adverse impact on that economy.” He said he called his Cabinet together to make sure “they are redoubling their efforts” to improve the economy.

He forgot to mention that House Republicans have introduced a dozen bills to create jobs, including cutting government regulation and expanding oil drilling, nearly all of which stalled in the Democrat-led Senate.

So the next time obama tells you he is worried about saving jobs, remember he has had almost 3 years to work on that problem. But he was too busy with the Health Care Bill, Pushing Chevrolet to make little electric cars, advancing the gay rights people causes, and dodging the Constitution to start more wars, and let more illegal aliens into the country. But don't worry Obama and his cabinet are working diligently to get the economy back to where it was before the debt ceiling debate...wait a minute ?

The only job he is really concerned about his his own.

Obama: Congress to blame for economy

Obama should lead, follow, or get out of the way.

With five days remaining before the government is forced to drastically cut services to avoid a default, Republicans have a bill that can't pass the Senate, and Democrats have a bill that House Republicans hate, this is what hope and change looks like, polarization and class-warfare.

You can't lead from behind. The president has not even put anything is writing. All we get from Obama are platitudes, promises, and threats, along with what he will not go along with. This has been a critical debate concerning our country's budget, and our future. Obama and the democrats have been completely absent and hiding in the bushes. Leaders must take risks, not just watch the polls and go along with whatever will get them re-elected. We have a total lack of leadership and a FAILURE of the the exectutive to do his job. When Obama tells us we must share the sacrifice, what is he sacrificing ? NOTHING !

Boehner should be given credit for trying, he has stuck to the principles that got him elected, smaller govt, less spending. In the end he will get more than the dems wanted to give up, and it is a step in the right direction, but a long way from anything substantial to turn the tide against the beast that is devouring our
wealth, and freedom.

The CBO likes Boehner's plan, they haven't mentioned Obama's plan yet, Oh, wait a minute, he has no plan !

According to the CBO, Boehner's plan is good. It's cuts now exceed the amount by which his plan would initially raise the debt ceiling. Their analysis concludes that his proposal would cut and cap spending by $917 billion over ten years It would also cut $22 billion in spending over the next year, and reduce discretionary expenditures each year thereafter. Boehner's new plan also requires Congress to propose at least another $1.8 trillion in spending cuts." So of course, Harry Reid has said it is DOA before he sees it, and is vowing to vote it down, and just in case it should get past the Senate, Obama is vowing to veto it.

Dear Mr. Speaker:

As you requested, the Congressional Budget Office has estimated the impact on the
deficit of the Budget Control Act of 2011, as posted on the Web site of the Committee on Rules on July 25, 2011.

...

In total, if appropriations in the next 10 years are equal to the caps on discretionary spending and the maximum amount of funding is provided for the program integrity initiatives, CBO estimates that the legislation would reduce budget deficits by about $850 billion between 2012 and 2021 relative to CBO’s March 2011 baseline adjusted for subsequent appropriation action.

As requested, CBO has also calculated the net budgetary impact if discretionary savings are measured relative to its January baseline projections. Relative to that baseline, CBO estimates that the legislation would reduce budget deficits by about $1.1 trillion between 2012 and 2021.

At least it's a plan.

So there it is, Boehner has proposed a $850 billion reduction over 10 years, a minuscule $85 billion a year on a deficit of $1.4 trillion. It is far worse than it looks because it is heavily back-loaded.

Unfortunately I think that Boehner's plan which is the best so far, is a joke. He has proposed a $850 billion reduction over 10 years, a measly $85 billion a year on a deficit of $1.4 trillion, and it's heavily back loaded. but at least it is a plan.

But it's not surprising that various Tea-Party members will not vote for it.
If we pass Obama's plan we get to see what's in it, again.

Obama's press secretary when pressed on the issue finally admitted what we already knew. Obama has no plan, or at least he doesn't want to put it to paper, so it doesn't become politically charged, in other words, we have to pass it to see what's in it again.

Obama's Head Fake on the Debt Plan

Mark Steyn

Obama announced a 4 trillion dollar deficit plan. His media barking dogs ran off to file their pieces praising Obama and calling him ""the only adult in the room", the problem is, there is no plan. The only plan that Obama has put on paper was his February budget that increased spending, and doubled the debt.

The Democratic Senate has shown no interest in producing a budget for two-and-a-half years. Sen. Reid can't even be bothered pretending he's interested in spending reductions. His only interest is to carry on spending without limits. Obama's budget plan ? Obama rolls out his teleprompter and his aides write some really big numbers on it, he reads them, and that passes for leadership.

The time has come for a balanced budget amendment

Republicans captured Congress in the 1994 midterm election by campaigning on the need for a balanced budget amendment when the federal deficit was only $203 billion. The Congressional Budget Office reported last Thursday that the federal deficit reached $1.2 trillion after only the first 10 months of the fiscal year.

The fact we are having this heated debate is evidence that we have reached critical mass with a massive intrusive Federal government that taxes us to death, and has a blank check to borrow whatever the difference is between what it spends, and what it takes in. Common sense should tell us this is a recipe for disaster, and in fact that disaster has already begun to play out.

When we had these budget compromises in the 1980s and 1990s, spending was reduced, taxes were raised, and the crisis was kicked down the road, but only for a short period of time. Over time, the tax increases always remain, but the spending begins to increase almost as soon as the deals are finished. A constitutional amendment is the medicine for Washington's spending ailment.

We have witnessed an unprecedented spending binge from this administration. Even in the face of a failing economy, rising unemployment, and a growing mountain of debt for our children and grandchildren, this administration still demands a blank check to waste money on failed welfare programs, a failed economic stimulus program, a health care bill that keeps driving up costs, and no one understands, and continues to shove it's disastrous green energy initiatives down our throats. Instead of a serious discussion about our budget, Obama gives us talking points, and threatens us if we fail to raise the debt limit for his reckless irresponsible administration.

The whole idea of the Debt Ceiling is for the Government to explain it's spending, and for the American people to ask what are we getting for our money ? In the case of the Obama administration we are getting unprecedented spending levels for welfare and entitlement programs that are rife with massive fraud, and waste, class-warfare against the business class, stifling over-regulation, the end of our manned space program, an irresponsible, piecemeal approach to defense spending cuts, with no oversight, and no discussion, higher unemployment, a stalled economy, and continual cries for more money.

Obama owns this mess, he isn't cleaning up Bush's mess, he is only creating a bigger mess. He is using the recession, and the crisis to advance his own political agenda, which has been a Franco-German welfare state, and it has been disastrous for our country and the economy. Obama hasn't caused runaway government spending, but he sure has kicked up into the stratosphere.

2010 midterms gave us fresh hope. This amendment will demonstrate we are taking action. If conservatives across the country can stand behind this, we may have a chance of getting it through. That’s what it is going to take.

Amending the constitution is an arduous endeavor. Not only would both chambers have to pass an amendment, but 38 state legislatures would have to ratify it. More likely this year, may be an agreement to grant the president “enhanced rescission” the ability to target wasteful spending via a line-item veto.

Personally, I think that a vote on a balanced-budget amendment is one of the demands we should exact for a vote on the debt ceiling. The current effort to enact a balanced budget amendment is not going to go away. Cut, Cap and Balance, is driven by the very real predictions that our nation is heading for bankruptcy.

There is growing realization that the only way to get the spenders in Washington to stop spending is to give them no choice.

Republicans ask for balanced budget amendment

Cut, Cap and Balance

The GOP has finally gotten serious about budget negotiations, and have asked for balanced budget amendment as part of deal to consider closing some tax loop holes.

One way to limit the outrages spending that has gone on the last few years, and avoid this debt limit problem in the future is to enact a balanced budget amendment. Up until now, it looked like this would be just another muppet show, with nothing achieved. We still have a long way to go, but the Republicans have either being playing it tight to the vest, it just remembered why they were swept into office 2010.

“Neither party is going to balance the budget unless there’s some discipline in the system,” Sen. Lindsey Graham, South Carolina Republican, said on CNN’s “State of the Union.”

In exchange for a constitutional amendment, Mr. Graham said he would be open to closing tax loopholes or identifying other ways to raise revenues, but only if those revenues go toward debt reduction. He rejected President Obama’s assertion on Friday that lawmakers can balance the budget without such an amendment, as evidenced by the spending binges of recent years.

The proposal would call for major spending cuts, capping federal spending and the balanced-budget amendment. In exchange for those three things, the debt ceiling would be raised.

The NYT facsinated with phone hacking scandal in UK

The NYT is fascinated with the phone hacking scandal in the UK. It seems they can't get enough of it. Could it be that they are really concerned for the family who's privacy was violated and have experienced a terrible trauma, first with the murder of their daughter, then by finding out their phones had been hacked by some overzealous, idiotic reporters ?

I am guessing not. I mean what we know about the liberal media is that cold blooded partisanship, and self-serving reporting is the norm. The interest of the people are only a casual and convenient byproduct for what is disseminated and served to the masses. It is party and cause above country as usual.

Meanwhile here at home what doesn't get much attention is a flat, hamster wheel economy that still is losing jobs, and has put millions of people out of work, people who are also losing their homes, while Obama has handed over hundreds of billions of dollars to the zombie banks, that should have been left to fail and go bankrupt, and the money used to help keep families in their
homes, and keep our communities together, not to save fat cat bankers, No outrage here by the NYT ?

Also just when you thought we had seen the last of the dirty cozy relationship between the Feds and the banks to hand out money to people who cannot pay it back (someone will have to) DOJ gets caught strong-arming small banks with potential charges of racism, if they do not set aside millions to lend to minorities for more, you guessed it, sub-prime loans. No outrage here by the NYT ?

It also seems that the investigation of operation "gun runner" by Darell Isa has revealed some very disturbing information. The Dept of Selective Justice has been running an illegal gun operation into Mexico, with the intent of creating enough outrage here to implement new gun laws to take away guns from, not gangsters, or Mexican drug cartels, but honest hardworking American people. remember when Obama said ; " 99% of the guns being used in Mexico came from the U.S. " Well another bold faced lie from the liar-in-chief, but now it seems it was part of a bigger scam by the White House to implement new gun control laws. And this one directly costs the lives of Americans. No outrage here by the NYT either ?

Obama continues to pursue his strategy of Debt Ceiling Demagoguery and Extortion, and NOT seriously addressing the issue of the National Debt, or Budget. Instead of seriously attacking our spending and debt problem, Obama has launched a two pronged smear and fear mongering campaign to restore his addiction to spending our money. First by scaring Grandma, and Grandpa into thinking that their SSI checks will not come, and then using the debt ceiling talks and refusal to raise the borrowing limit as an excuse for this sick, and dying economy. No outrage here by the NYT either ?

The Obama administration continues it's illegal war in Libya, predator strikes in Pakistan and Afghanistan targeted international killings by the state, that have killed hundreds of civilians, torture at Gitmo, and billions of dollars of stimulus money have disappeared, Billions of dollars in federal aid delivered directly to the local level to help revive the economy have gone overwhelmingly to places that supported President Obama in the 2008 presidential election.

Most of the media have confined their outrage towards torture, war, illegal banking activities, stolen money, payoffs to campaign contributors, and crony capitalism to the years 2001-2008, after that the outrage seems to have faded, no boots in the street, no demonstrations, no concern for murdered civilians, or concern for the human rights of captured terrorists, except of course unless something interesting happens in Israel that fits their narrative. And no concern for the millions of America people who are losing their jobs, and their homes as a result of a Ponzi schemed cooked up by the Federal government, and the big banks to steal our wealth.

Maybe that's the real story.

Bernake sees chance to blame economic failure on Congress.

The economy is a disaster the Feds micro mis-mangement of the economy, and the collapse of the dollar have increased fears that we are now facing another recession and possibly even financial collapse.

Bernanke repeatedly plunges headlong into fiscal policy, hoping to place the blame for the next collapse on anyone other than the Fed. The fact that Bernake is looking for scapegoats is worrisome. The collapse may be coming, or they just don't know what will happen and are hedging their bets. Whatever is going on Chairman Bernanke warned on Thursday that overzealous cuts to government spending in the short term could derail a shaky recovery and said a debt default could wreak financial havoc.

Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke warned on Thursday that overzealous cuts to government spending in the short term could derail a shaky recovery and said a debt default could wreak financial havoc.

"I only ask ... as Congress looks at the timing and composition of its changes to the budget, that it does take into account that in the very near term the recovery is still rather fragile, and that sharp and excessive cuts in the very short term would be potentially damaging to that recovery," Bernanke told the Senate Banking Committee.

On the second day of delivering the Fed's semiannual monetary policy report to Congress, Bernanke renewed his warning that a United States debt default would be devastating for the U.S. and global economies.

"It would be a calamitous outcome," Bernanke said. "It would create a very severe financial shock that would have effects not only on the U.S. economy, but the global economy."

Failure to raise the debt limit in time would constitute a "self-inflicted wound" to the economy, he added.

Did you get that ? Cuts to federal spending could wreak havoc in the economy. The tag team of Obama and Bernake have wreaked more havoc in 2 1/2 years then we have seen since the Great Depression. For Bernake to try an blame the Congress for insisting on spending cuts for this hamster wheel failed economy, is not only a joke, it's irresponsible political pandering, and the reason why why are in the mess in the first place. We have NO leadership.
